Mappin and Webb reveal stunning A/W 2014 collections

Back in 1775, Mappin and Webb began, and not in the way that you might expect. Jonathan Mappin started his own cutlery workshop at the age of 18 in Sheffield, and within his first year, he was given the Freedom of the Cutlers Company. His son, Joseph, followed him into the business along with his grandson, and the business became the Mappin Brothers Ltd. They were a part of the movement that made Sheffield renowned for cutlery craftsmanship. As one of the Mappin brothers moved away from the company in 1860, he created his own business alongside a brother-in-law, George Webb, and Mappin and Webb was born. They took the direction of their business towards jewellery and have never looked back.Mappin & Webb press day - Dover Suite-18

The first Mappin and Webb shop was opened in Regent Street in 1862 and today, the brand hold a warrant as Silversmiths to HM The Queen and HRH The Prince of Wales, as well as having an employee who was appointed as the Royal Jeweller in 2012.Mappin & Webb press day - Dover Suite-17

The success of Mappin and Webb is outstanding, and their press day at the Brown’s Hotel in London was evidence of that. In a room which was lavished in flowers and plants, Mappin and Webb delicately revealed four of their new collections. The enchanted woodland that had been created for the setting of their press day included the collections inspired by stars of the silver screen. Each of the pieces are simplistic yet intricate. The lead collection, Floresco, which displays a flower motif, was developed by Elizabeth Galton, the creative director at Mappin and Webb, and holds pieces that are priced between £1,200 and £40,000.Mappin & Webb press day - Dover Suite-11

The Aster collection features pear-shaped diamonds complete with diamonds and platinum for easy-wearing jewellery. We particularly loved the Moments collection, which consists of gift-led designs in 18ct white gold necklaces that feature a horseshoe, a cross and a heart alongside other delicate shapes.
