Now we know at first when you think of a festival, it should all be about the music and, well, the reason why you go to them in the first place… but please, times have changed. We’re out of the Stone Age, and into the dawn of… fashion.

Ever since Woodstock 1969, rock stars have been entertaining the masses in the outdoor sun and looking great while they do it. This trend has continued to this day, as both performers and attendees alike have wowed the fashion industry with their summer style and festival chic, from Glastonbury and Reading to Coachella and Isle of Wight. They’ve inspired designers, runway collections and high-street chains all over.  You name it, we love it. Now festival season has well and truly begun and to get into the festival spirit, we decided to check out the best stylish looks from the globe’s latest festival: BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Glasgow.  We know the music was great, but to be honest we were there for the fashion.

Katy Perry was one of the headline acts at Big Weekend and gave a visually stunning performance that saw her smash through number one hit after number one hit.  However, it was not only her incredible vocals and addictive dance moves that wowed fans, but her array of eye-catching on-stage outfits. Featuring multiple outfit changes, Katy was a pop queen from beginning to end and her sparkly outfits proved it.

Lily Allen absolutely rocked the Glasgow crowd at Radio 1’s Big Weekend with her fun, fabulous and sugary sweet stage looks.  Our favourite was her gold strapless bralet with a blue and green polka dot sequinned skirt. Looking pop-tastic from head to toe, Lily showed that she was back, and back for good.

Lorde brought both her soothing dulcet tones and unique, dark style to Radio 1’s Big Weekend. The Royals singer wore a white vest top and black high-waisted trousers that highlighted her long legs, as she won over the Scottish crowd.

Rita Ora not only whipped her hair, but also the crowd back and forth into a frenzy of fun, with colourful bodysuits and matching plaits.

Pharrell Williams was also at Radio 1’s Big Weekend showing that the boys can bring it too. The singer made everyone happy with his laidback style of plain tee, shirt and jeans, feel good hits and, of course, his hat.

Paolo Nutini, the Glasgow lad, looked pretty darn good showing off his fantastic voice at Big Weekend. Going full casual, Paolo opted for the forever classic jeans, t-shirt and leather jacket combo, proving that though simple, is still a timeless classic. Another good one for the boys.

Tinie Tempah was more than in the summer mood at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, in cut-off jeans shorts and printed tee that would have been the perfect outfit for any festival goer.

Summer season has just started and from the looks of it, there’s more festival fashion to come from around the world.
