Burberry Prorsum catwalk show report for LFW A/W 2015
Their clean cut-tailoring and famous trench coats were nowhere to be seen as the latest collection from Burberry Prorsum took us on a wild journey through the seventies. Christopher Bailey’s idea for the autumn/winter collection was to mix different genres and styles, to combine the classic with something a little more free spirited and that is exactly what we got from the show.
Claire Maguire’s live performance of House of the Rising Sun and Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow amongst others set the mood for the show as models sashayed down the ramp in patchwork, quilts, patterns and prints.
Bailey stuck to rich colours like burgundy, teal, ochre, indigo and red; expert craftsmanship and lots of detail work. We saw a lot of fringe (English fringed suede) in the coats, blankets, skirts, boots, along with printed floaty chiffon dresses with cut-out necks and mirrored textiles throughout the collection reminding us of the bonhomie of hippies in the late 60s.
Accessories were as powerful as the clothing. Cosy over the knee suede boots with embroidery patches and fringed ankle boots were accompanied by fringed suede bucket bags. Retro sunglasses and bracelets tied up the entire look together.
At the end of it Bailey did what others couldn’t, pushed the pause button on a hectic schedule and took us down the sweet, carefree memory lane.
