American Apparel celebrate the LGBT community
It is LGBT pride month and American Apparel has created a clothing collection to celebrate and appreciate Pride 2016. In the past, American Apparel have been noted for their use of controversial advertising, using playful titles such as Crotch Licking and Playtime with a range of provocative images. This time, however, the brand has created a campaign which celebrates, supports and enriches a community.
The rainbow-coloured collection includes hats, tote bags and tops as well as other items. Amongst the pieces launched, the brand has infused Donald Trump’s well-known phrase “Make America great again” with a red cap which states “Make America gay again” – appearing on vest tops and t-shirts. 30% of the proceeds will go towards the equality act that protects the LGBT community.
As American Apparel stated in a statement on Twitter, “There are so many identities to celebrate” and together we can support a range of communities and people.
