Brooklyn Beckham’s first foray into the world of fashion photography – the latest Burberry campaign – has officially been released.

The ads for Burberry’s new This is Brit fragrance line see the 17-year-old model go behind the camera to photograph a group of his contemporaries out and about in London. The end result is a collection of portraits featuring some of the today’s most promising young British models, including the likes of Ben Rees, Lewis Helim, Eliza Thomas, Liv Mason Pearson and Harry Pourdjis.

Burberry is known for intelligent marketing and the innovative ways in which they utilise social media, and this was evident in the case of this latest campaign – Beckham’s entire shoot was livestreamed on Snapchat and Instagram.  Indeed, tapping young Brooklyn to photograph the adverts is a clever piece of publicity in itself – he has over six million followers on Instagram –but it has led to a backlash from some professional photographers accusing the teen of nepotism.

However, Burberry’s creative director Christopher Bailey does not agree with the budding photographer’s critics. “Brooklyn has a really great eye for image and Instagram works brilliantly for him as a platform to showcase his work,” he says. “His style and attitude were exactly what we wanted to capture in the spirit of this new Brit fragrance campaign.”

Starring in a Burberry campaign is often an indication that a young model is about to hit the big time – time will tell if the same can be said about this new teen photographer.
