The Lighthouse is a tale of two men: their fears, their isolation and the immensity of the sea all around. In the film, Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe wear the clothes of lighthouse keepers as they delve into the human abyss, mirrored and magnified by the stormy waves and the rough conditions of their dwellings, in which they live like prisoners. Having already gained acclaim from the critics for its engrossing story-telling, the filmmaking techniques used and the outstanding performance of the two main actors, the movie received its UK premiere during the London Film Festival. On the red carpet, we caught up with the director and Dafoe to talk about the memorable moments of this production and the synergy on set.

Eggers spoke about directing Pattinson and Dafoe, as well as discussing some of the cinematic choices adopted for the movie.

Dafoe stopped by to tell us what inspired him to work with Eggers and to describe his preparation for the role both before filming and on set.
