Knowing how to take care of your intimate parts can be a daunting task. It’s very sensitive to germs and other bacteria, making it very easy to get an infection.

When the vagina is healthy, it contains normal amounts of both good and bad bacteria. The balance of these good and bad bacteria keeps the genital area in its natural pH level. This equilibrium is crucial, especially during menstruation. Fortunately, there are companies, like Knix, that design products specifically for making your monthly red days more comfortable, such as period panties.

Here are the ways to take care of your private parts properly:

Have a balanced diet

One way to keep your intimate part in good shape is to get on a healthy diet. A good diet is one where you eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, and limit your meat intake. Yogurt is an excellent source of good bacteria, so you should eat it regularly. You should also drink plenty of water as this is going to flush out any toxins that could harm your vagina.

When caring for your intimate parts, you must remember that it’s really all about what you consume. You should also be careful with allergens since the symptoms may affect your reproductive organs and cause itching, as well as other discomforts. Eating plenty of fresh fruits and veggies won’t only help you achieve flawless skin, hair, and nails, but it will also keep your private parts healthy and happy.

Manage your period appropriately

Having your menstruation can make you feel icky all over. That’s why you need to make sure to find ways to manage your period woes. The first step is to clean your intimate part and make sure it’s completely dry. This will prevent bacteria from building up, and it will also help stop odor from coming out.

You should also be conscious of the time when you have to change your sanitary pad or pour out your menstrual cup. Period blood has bacteria in it, so you should clean up regularly during your red days to avoid toxic shock syndrome (TSS).

Be mindful when exercising

Going to the gym to exercise regularly can help keep you healthy. However, you should be careful about the equipment that you use, particularly when using the cycling machine. If you can, sanitise the area where you’ll climb atop before you proceed with your regular exercise routine to avoid bacterial infections in your genital area.

Be careful with antibiotics

Many women don’t understand why antibiotics are prescribed for their private area care. While they may sound like a viable way to treat bacterial vaginosis (BV), there are actually several complications that can occur if one uses antibiotics to clean out bacteria. You should know that the use of antibiotics will not kill the bacteria that caused the disease.

You can start by taking an over-the-counter medication that’s used to treat yeast infections. A few of the most common over the counter medications include creams and suppositories that can be bought at drugstores. A warm bath can also help eliminate bacteria, although you should only bathe for a maximum of 30 minutes each day. BV is more commonly caused by an imbalance of the bacteria in your private parts.

Skip the scented soaps

Scented soaps are nice to use because they keep you feeling clean and fresh. However, they may also be laden with harmful chemicals that can lead to irritation in your private parts. Always choose all-natural creams and lotions to avoid itches and burns.

Go for regular check-ups

One of the best things that you can do is to visit your doctor and ask them what else you can do to take good care of your genitals. Going on regular check-ups can also help spot potential problems earlier. This way, you only need to do lifestyle changes and minimal medication as treatment.

Conclusion

In addition to eating yogurt and drinking lots of water, there are other steps you can take to stop bacteria from growing in your genital area. Other care tips you ought to keep in mind include avoiding douching, wearing loose cotton underwear, using some form of lubricant during intercourse, not wearing tight jeans, and having proper sanitary protection to help prevent bacterial infections. These are just a few of the care tips you can consider, but these are some basic things that you need to know as they’re quite important.
