Spain’s culture dates back over four thousand years and traces its origins to Roman times. The main cultural influences of Spain were the Romans, Greeks and Carthaginians. As it’s clear to see, these are all Mediterranean cultures and their influences made their way into Spain’s culture. From Greek and Roman influence came Gothic art, which was influenced by artists from these countries.

There are many distinct areas that define Spain’s culture. These include art, literature, music, religion, history, business and more. Most of the major influences in Spanish culture have been brought by Europeans, especially through the influence of art and literature.

Business culture

On the other hand, the business and management culture in Spain is very characteristic and important for Spanish culture in general. It is common to find friendly workplaces most of the time. The thing is, Spanish employees play no games, they get the job done, either as a lone wolf or doing teamwork, these people make sure to present results in an efficient way.

Art and literature

Art has been one of the most dominant influences in Spanish culture, from the likes of Spanish painting and music. Literature is another important aspect of Spanish culture, with contributions by great authors such as Miguel de Cervantes with his Don Quixote.

Music

Music by itself is the most influential element of Spanish culture. This has led to the birth of several artists within variety of genres, styles and influences. One of the most notable is Jazz and Blues.

History

History is also one of the most influential areas of Spain. The most prominent aspect of history that defines Spain’s culture is the Moorish period. This period in Spanish history was an extremely interesting time, as it was when Christianity spread throughout all the region.

This was very important to the local population and created a strong bond between the people of Spain and Christianity.  The religious influences that Spain had been exposed to, have led to a range of different styles, traditions and forms of worship.

Cuisine

Spain is a very diverse country, with a vast landscape. There is a good chance that most will come across excellent varieties of cuisine in Spain. Those looking for a unique style of food will be able to find it in Spain.

A popular style of cuisine is the one from the Basque Country, which is influenced by the region of Spain itself. The Basque Country is also known for being one of the most beautiful places to live in the entire world.

Final thoughts

Spain has a rich cultural background, which has given a unique aspect to it, similar to American culture, but with more of a European twist. This is one of the main reasons why so many foreigners choose to move to Spain.

This country has a vibrant culture, which makes a difference between among other countries in Europe. It is this diverse and varied nature that makes it so successful at attracting such a large number of immigrants.
