Edgar Wright’s Last Night in Soho is a genre-bending, time-hopping, horror-fantasy from the director of Baby Driver; it’s a love letter to the beauty and glamour of London, as well as a headfirst dive into its dark underbelly, rounded off with some startling performances from Anya-Taylor Joy and Thomasin McKenzie.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of joining the director and his cast on the red carpet at the BFI London Film Festival 2021 for the UK premiere.

Edgar Wright spoke about why he wanted to make the film, his cast, filming in London and the influence of the film, music and fashion of the 60s: “It’s really a cultural tribute in a way.”

Synnøve Karlsen spoke about why she was drawn in by the script and what it was like filming at all hours in the UK’s capital: “I saw a different side to London than I’ve ever seen.”

Elizabeth Berrington shared how she has long been a fan of Wright’s work (“Shaun of the Dead just cracks me up every single time and then Baby Driver, which is just so sublime every single shot”) and that she loved the fact it was going to be shot on film, rather than digitally.

Michael Ajao reflected on his character, John, and how it felt to be asked to be part of Wright’s film: “It’s just a massive honour.”
