Acapulco: An interview with Enrique Arrizon, Eugenio Derbez, Fernando Carsa and Camila Perez

Launching this October on Apple TV+, the new Spanish and English comedy series Acapulco hits our screens under a haze of 80s vibes and timeless glamour. Created by Austin Winsberg, Eduardo Cisneros and Jason Shuman, the highly anticipated ten-episode series centres on the magical resort of Las Colinas, where twenty-something-year-old Máximo Gallardo (Enrique Arrizon) begins his dream job as the luxurious resort’s Cabana boy.

Executive producer Eugenio Derbez stars as a present-day Máximo Gallardo narrating the story back to 1984 where it all began. It’s a kitsch and heartwarming coming-of-age story inspired by the film How to Be a Latin Lover that navigates demanding clientele, romantic liaisons and the precarious path to huge success.

We spoke to Debez about challenging Latino stereotypes, alongside the ensemble cast, Arrizon, Camila Perez (Julia) and Fernando Carsa (Memo), about their roles in the series and what it means to them to tell the story.

Acapulco is released on Apple TV+ on 4th October 2021.
