Catfish and the Bottlemen drop new single Showtime and announce return to the stage

British rock sensation Catfish and the Bottlemen have marked their return to the music scene with the release of their new single Showtime, their first in five years, accompanied by the announcement of headline shows in Cardiff and Edinburgh, as well as headlining this summer’s Reading & Leeds Festival for the second time. The much-anticipated track was recorded in Los Angeles with Grammy-winning producer Dave Sardy and is a herald of the band’s upcoming fourth studio album.

The release of Showtime ends a notable hiatus for the arena-filling group and showcases a confident evolution in frontman Van McCann’s songwriting. The new single, now available through Island Records, encapsulates a sunny Californian optimism, hinting at what’s to come in the band’s future musical endeavours.

The announcement was met with a wave of enthusiasm from fans, following a week of global flyposting of the word Showtimes and a mysterious social media teaser that quickly amassed over 100,000 likes. Some received postcards with the phrase “Back to the Graft Again,” sparking speculation about the band’s next moves.

Complementing their comeback single, Catfish and the Bottlemen will perform two major open-air headline shows, a significant moment 900 days in the making since their last live performance. The band is set to take the stage at Cardiff Castle on 19th July and at the Edinburgh Summer Sessions on 24th August, before their much-anticipated return to the Reading and Leeds Festival main stage.

Known for their explosive live shows, Catfish and the Bottlemen have firmly established their presence as one of Britain’s leading bands of the 21st century. Since signing with Island Records in 2014 and releasing their debut album The Balcony, which entered the UK top ten and led to a BRIT Award for British Breakthrough Act, the group has achieved over one billion streams, two million album sales and is nearing 10 million single sales.

The release of Showtime and the anticipation of a new album signals the start of a dynamic new chapter for Catfish and the Bottlemen.
