Sticks’n’Sushi celebrates Sakura season with special menu and flower installations

Sticks’n’Sushi will celebrate Japan’s Sakura season across its UK locations from 27th March to 27th April 2025. The initiative, inspired by the Japanese tradition of hanami, which involves enjoying the cherry blossoms in bloom, will feature a range of Sakura-themed dishes and cocktails at all 15 of its UK branches, including Wimbledon, Covent Garden, and Greenwich.

The restaurant will introduce special menu items such as the Sakura House Roll, including lobster, avocado, Sakura rice, miso aioli, and lumpfish roe, and dessert Sakura Cherī Fondant, a cherry and white chocolate fondant served with vanilla ice cream and cherry biscuit crumble.

The drinks menu will be equally thematic, with a selection of limited-edition cocktails. These include Beneath the Sakura Tree, prepared with Pisco Aba, St-Germain, and Pandan foam; the Sakura Vesper, a mix of Botanist Gin, Sake Ono Junmai Daiginjo, olive brine, and lemon oil; and The Sakura Dew, combining Akashi Tai Yuzushu and St-Germain topped with strawberry shrub. A non-alcoholic option, The Sakura Blush, will also be available, made with Sakura tea, Everleaf Forest non-alcoholic spirit, and sparkling tea peony blush.

For the Easter Bank Holiday, SticksʹnʹSushi Shoreditch will serve a special Sakura edition of the All You Can Sip brunch, available from noon until 4 pm. In addition to the food and drinks, the Covent Garden location will present a special installation. The Henrietta Street terrace will be adorned with traditional ikebana arrangements of Sakura and elderflower, courtesy of premium elderflower liqueur brand St-Germain. This setup aims to enhance the hanami experience, allowing guests to enjoy the spring specials in a beautifully decorated outdoor setting.

Sticks’n’Sushi was founded in 1994 in a Copenhagen basement by half-Danish, half-Japanese brothers Jens and Kim Rahbek together with their brother-in-law Thor Andersen. The brand, which has grown to include establishments in Denmark, the UK, and Germany, offers a delicious blend of sushi and grilled dishes, served in a setting influenced by both Japanese and Danish design elements. In 2024, Sticks’n’Sushi was awarded Restaurant Group of the Year (20 sites and under) at Restaurant Magazine’s R200 Awards.
