Netflix sets global premiere for Lena Dunham’s cross-Atlantic comedy Too Much on 10th July

Netflix has announced that Too Much, a new limited series created by Lena Dunham, will premiere on the streaming platform globally on 10^th July 2025. The show, which is set between New York and London, follows the character Jessica, played by Meg Stalter, as she relocates to the UK following the end of a long-term relationship. 

Too Much has been co-created by Dunham and Luis Felber. Dunham, known for her work on the acclaimed series Girls, also serves as writer and director. The series is described as a cross-Atlantic romantic comedy with a focus on disillusionment and the search for connection in adulthood. The narrative centres on Jessica, a workaholic in her mid-30s, who, “reeling from a broken relationship that she thought would last forever and slowly isolating everyone she knows… the only solution is to take a job in London, where she plans to live a life of solitude like a Brontë sister.” The arrival of Felix, played by Sharpe, disrupts Jessica’s plans, triggering a complicated relationship that develops across cultures.

The cast includes a notable collection of established and emerging actors. Alongside Stalter and Sharpe, appearances come from Daisy Bevan, Adele Exarchopoulos, Dean-Charles Chapman, Rita Wilson, Andrew Scott, Prasanna Puwanarajah, Rhea Perlman, Emily Ratajkowski, Stephen Fry, Kaori Momoi and Adwoa Aboah.

Describing the series, the creators position Too Much as “an ex-pat rom-com for the disillusioned who wonder if true love is still possible, but sincerely hope that it is”. The series also explores whether “Americans and Brits actually speak the same language”, referencing its Anglo-American themes. Check out the first-look images below.
