Town Bar opens in Mayfair for walk-in cocktails and impromtu eats

Town Bar, a newly launched standalone bar situated within Stevie Parle’s Town restaurant in Mayfair, has opened its doors to walk-in customers, offering a curated cocktail programme and full food menu. The bar, which began service earlier this year, is led by Kevin Armstrong, formerly of Satan’s Whiskers, which ranked 29th in the World’s 50 Best Bars list. Open from midday to midnight Monday through Saturday, and until 6pm on Sundays, Town Bar aims to provide an alternative for those unable to secure a reservation at the restaurant.

Located on the corner of Brook Street and South Molton Lane, Town Bar operates independently from the main dining room but shares its culinary offerings. The bar’s drinks menu features both classic cocktails and a selection of original creations, including a category dubbed Chargers – a new style of cocktail developed specifically for the venue.

Among the bespoke drinks on offer is the Dill Boy Martini, made with vodka, aquavit, dry vermouth and dill oil. Another house creation, the Somerset Negroni, replaces the traditional gin base with Somerset apple brandy and includes bitter bianco, sweet vermouth and apple eau de vie. Armstrong’s approach to the cocktail list reflects his background in high-end mixology and his experience at one of London’s most respected cocktail bars.

While the bar’s drinks programme is a central focus, the full menu from Parle’s restaurant is also available to customers seated at the bar. This includes light snacks such as Fried Sage Leaves, as well as full dinner service. The informal, walk-in nature of Town Bar is intended to make the venue more accessible, particularly during peak hours when the restaurant itself may be fully booked.

The opening follows the launch of the main restaurant, Town, in May, which has already garnered attention for its seasonal British-Italian menu. With Armstrong at the helm of the bar programme, the venue is positioning itself as a destination for both casual and more involved dining and drinking experiences.
