South London singer-songwriter Skye Newman has released her latest track Lonely Girl, a raw, socially conscious single that delves into the emotional fallout of abuse and manipulation.

The song, which first debuted during a special Rinse FM broadcast earlier this month, gained immediate traction following its first play and interview segment with Maya Jama. The candid discussion saw Newman reflect on her breakout year, her personal inspirations, and the urgent themes behind Lonely Girl, which addresses how older men exploit the vulnerabilities of teenage girls.

“This is about abuse that’s often normalised or overlooked,” Newman said in the interview. “Young people need education and support – we need to start calling this behaviour what it is.”

Written by Newman alongside Boo and Luis Navidad, the track follows her debut EP SE9 Part 1 and continues her run of honest, story-led songwriting. It arrives at the close of a landmark year for the artist, which included two top 20 singles, major playlist and editorial support, and a performance on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. Newman was also longlisted for BBC’s Sound of 2026 and nominated for both Rolling Stone UK’s Rising Star Award and Notion’s Best New R&B Artist.

She’s set to kick off her first UK and European headline tour, The Woman I Am, in April 2026, with all dates selling out in under ten minutes.
