Six beauty hacks to try this summer

For any self-confessed beauty lover, you’re likely to always be on the lookout to discover more tips and tricks to incorporate into your skincare and make-up routine. Ahead, take a look at our guide to viral beauty hacks that will have you tempted to try out.

Add a corrector to a foundation that isn’t an exact match for your skin colour

Ever been frustrated because you purchased that expensive new foundation only to find that it isn’t a match for your skin? Understandably it’s not always simple finding your perfect match but getting your hands on a shade corrector can be just the solution. Keeping this beauty hack in mind can be a foolproof way to achieve a flawless complexion.

We recommend:

Shade Adjusting Drops, £10, The Body Shop

Try using coconut oil as a substitute for shaving cream

Whether it’s used as a make-up remover or for reviving dull hair, it can be said that coconut oil is a great multitasking product. It can also be valuable for shaving your body when you’re out of shaving cream. A lot of shaving creams fail to add the same level of moisture that coconut oil can and it leaves you with a subtle glow.

We recommend:

Perfectly Pure Extra Virgin Pure Coconut Oil, £7.89, Holland & Barrett

Use a spoon to achieve a flawless cut crease

Instagram has brought us many weird and wonderful beauty hacks but this is one that we were actually keen to try. A few months ago, beauty vlogger Britteny Foley showcased on Instagram that placing a spoon against your lids can be a useful way to create a fierce cut crease eyeshadow style.

Use a white eyeliner to brighten eyes

For the moments when you have tired looking eyes, make use of white eyeliner to brighten and awaken eyes. If you place it in your waterline it will make eyes pop and stand out more than the usual predictable shades.

We recommend:

NYX Professional Makeup White Liquid Liner, £5.50, Boots

Silicone bra inserts can be used to blend your foundation

For those moments when you can’t find your beauty blender or if you’re just looking to mix up your routine, silicone inserts can be a valuable replacement to your usual makeup blending tool.

Save a broken lipstick with a little heat

If you come across a broken lipstick, do not fear, because it always has the potential to be salvaged. To repair your broken lipstick, melt the bottom of the broken piece with a lighter and the base. Then proceed to place the broken piece back onto the base so it can be smoothed out. After place the lipstick in the refrigerator so it can solidify and you can be reunited with your once broken lipstick.
