Bushstock festival: The highlights

Bushstock festival: The highlights | Live review

Bushstock took over four events in Shepherd’s Bush for a one-day festival that shook the place from 1pm right through until 2am.

When talented singer-songwriter Mahalia moved to the stage at St Stephen’s Church and began singing, it was apparent she had a captivating effect on the crowd with her enchanting voice.

Nick Mulvey, a 26-year-old, self-taught musician, followed. Although it was hard to categorise his music as he is so in-between genres, it worked well and charmed the audience.

After this the crowd danced wildly as Raghu Dixit hit the stage with their contemporary Indian folk music.

Sarah Jarosz, a one-woman string band, kept the crowd enthralled with her supple tones of music that transcend the boundaries of folk and pop.

To mix things up, Bear’s Den played a hybrid of indie rock-and-roll which kept the crowd moving.

People were flailing their arms and dancing everywhere whilst the atmosphere was full of love and respect which circulated right up until five-piece band Mystery Jets hit the stage with their contagious songs. Here are the highlights.
