Down to Earth premiere: An interview with Rolf Winters, Renata Heinen and Mark Rylance

We had the pleasure of meeting Rolf Winters and Renata Heinen, the couple behind new documentary film Down to Earth at the film’s London premiere.

Opening with the quote: “We didn’t inherit the earth from our parents, we borrow it from our children,” the film follows the Dutch pair and their three kids as they travel to six different continents to live with indigenous communities existing under the radar of modern society to see what they can learn from them.

At the film’s launch at London Picturehouse, they spoke to us about what motivated them to embark on their mission, their greatest challenges and concerns, particularly fears for their children’s well-being, their most profound experiences and why they wanted to share their journey with a documentary film.

Actor Sir Mark Rylance, who is an Ambassador of the charity the film is supporting, Survival International, also spoke passionately about the significance of Down to Earth and why it was inspirational to him.
