Football fans in Vietnam and the streaming apps keeping them on the ball

Football is one of the most popular sports in Vietnam. There are a lot of people who watch live and engage with online. Of course, nowadays getting to a stadium from anywhere in the world is touch-and-go, and match times aren’t often convenient for fans in the ICT timezone. That’s where online streaming comes in, as an alternative channel for watching football matches.

In Vietnam, numerous online streaming apps and sites provide users with access to sports coverage. Some websites have been around for a long time, and many people use them every day to watch football. There are three such providers that are trusted by football fans in the country:

K+ TV

K+ is a popular online streaming app in Vietnam. It provides viewers with a range of content from TV series, music, sports, movies and more.

Previously, K+ only offered coverage of football matches via their website or Facebook page. However, this year it has changed its model to provide users with live streaming on its website and via the app. The service provides live coverage of all kinds of football matches, including the National Football League (NFL), the US National Football League (NFL, for American football), La Liga, and other leagues from France, Argentina, Spain, and Chile and Italy.

Since this change came into force, K+ has become one of the most popular streaming apps in Vietnam. It provides live streaming for all kinds of football matches and is available on both Android and iOS platforms. Users can install it easily on their devices to watch football matches conveniently anytime, anywhere, even without an Internet connection.

Subscribers of the app can watch daily football matches for free, which is a benefit that can not be found on any other streaming sites or apps in Vietnam. Viewers who are not a subscribers also have occasional chances to watch one-off matches for free, usually at least one per week. In terms of subscriptions, one can choose from a range of options, from one month to six or 12 months, with different prices for each. Those who want to watch more than one match per week are recommended the “Premium” package (the most expensive one) by the service, which enables them to watch six matches per week at $7.99 per month (around 184305 Vietnamese Dong) or $39.99 per year (around 922449VND).

VTV GO

VTV Go is one of the best streaming sites in Vietnam. It provides users with live streaming for all kinds of football matches every week. Moreover, it also has its channel on TV so that people can watch VTV’s content both online and offline.

VTV Go is a very convenient app/site to use. Users can sign up for a free trial and test the quality of its service, and then choose from subscription options from three months to 12 months to access their matches.

However, VTV GO’s subscription is more expensive than K+ TV. If users want to watch one match per week, they must pay VND15,000 for a 3-month subscription. Those who want to watch all the matches from La Liga in a year have to pay about VND480,000, which is almost three times the price of K+ TV. That said, anyone who is keen to watch La Liga games should choose VTV GO as it is an official site for La Liga, and will reliably provide all of the relevant content. Of course, casual football fans might opt for K+ TV, which will probably be enough.

FPT Play

FPT is a popular communications and information technology company in Vietnam, with different platforms such as VTC, FPT Shop, and so on. In addition to these, FPT also has a dedicated streaming site, FTP Play, which provides users with live streaming for some content, including football matches every week. However, it only focuses on one league: V-League. (Apart from football matches, FPT PLAY also has a lot of other content such as movies and TV series to watch both online and offline.)

There is a wide choice of subscription options for its customers, whether paying monthly, quarterly, or annually, with different prices for each category as well.

Although FPT PLAY offers a reasonable service, it is not as popular as VTV GO and K+ TV. For fans who specifically want to watch V-League football matches league, it’s a great option.

Conclusion

Anyone passionate about football in Vietnam, who wants access to games worldwide, should consider signing up to one of these three football streaming apps, whice are easy to download.

The viewership and preference of different streaming sites depends on the individual and their particular team loyalty.
