MFW – Chicca Lualdi BeeQueen F/W 2013-14
Chicca Lualdi BeeQueen’s Fall/Winter 2013-14 show in Milan was all about earthy hues and clean lines. Shades of mustard, burgundy and khaki were teamed with silk and cashmere to create an elegant, minimal collection.
There was a 60s feel to some of the looks such as the pinafore style dresses and turtleneck sweaters paired with knee high boots but the mood was kept modern with subtle colour panelling and fabric contrasts.
Trousers were either roomy and fluid worn with turtlenecks and fur gillets or tailored and cropped to better highlight the patent leather panelling on the front of the boots. Also on show were fabulous masculine knits that were accentuated by shirts buttoned to the neck. Coats were striking and linear, flaring out from the neck down in a cape design with bold colour panels of burgundy and copper.
Chicca Lualdi BeeQueen is a brand inspired by the essential and minimal, expressed with sharp cuts that was certainly evident in the Milan show. Reported to use only Italian fabrics sourced from companies that invest in creativity and entrepreneurship this displays not only a love for her country’s heritage but a desire to see Italy’s future prosper.
Lualdi was born into creativity with a family internationally regarded for their interior design and after studying in both New York and Milan she launched her own label. Intent on creating an understated brand with a modern femininity forgoing convention and commercial trends Chicca Lualdi BeeQueen was born. Having seen this latest collection it would seem that she has succeeded.
