Breast is best at Rome Fashion Week
Everyone knows Milan is the place to be for Fashion Week, but if you like your fashion shocking and incredibly daring, then you might just find what you’re looking for at Alta Roma Fashion week. This week designer Gianna Molara sparked controversy by sending one of his models out on the catwalk dressed as a boob.
No, we’re not joking and we have the pictures to prove it – the model had her face covered, perhaps to avoid the embarrassment, and was dressed from the neck down in a nude triangular creation. She made her entrance with arms covered as though she was wearing a straight jacket only to reveal a single breast moulded across her chest.
That wasn’t the only bizarre creation; another model stepped out wearing a number of umbrellas sewed together to create a huge skirt that also pulled down the model’s corset, slightly revealing her breasts. Dressed all in white, she accessorised with white 50s-style glasses, long satin gloves and a pearl choker.
With Valentine’s Day approaching a third model stepped out dressed as a huge broken heart. The designer also sent out a strong political message, sending another model out dressed in a pale yellow dress with a euro sign hanging from her neck and cut-out panels with the words ‘spread’ and ‘BTP’ embroidered on the floor-sweeping gown, in reference to the eurozone crisis and the gap over bonds between Italy and Germany.
Molara sure knows how to turn heads, but I’m not sure we’ll be seeing many replicas of these designs at a high street near you anytime soon.
