Fashion label to watch out for: Xsenia & Olya

Which girl isn’t a huge fan of clothes? If you’re anything like me, you’re always on the lookout for new designers out there. I like to support independent labels whenever possible so, I was really excited when I happened to come across Xsenia & Olya.

Xsenia Runa and Olya Shishkina met at Central Saint Martins; their consequent collaboration, with its trademark emphasis on striking digital prints and geometrical forms, is hailed as one of today’s most exciting emerging womenswear brands.

Take a look at the Xsenia & Olya website; some of their designs really will catch your eye, we particularly like the stunning jellyfish-print coat.

When asked what their fashion manifesto was, they both said: “We believe that ‘style’ is a more representative description of our manifesto. Rather than simply following a trend or ‘fashion’ it’s about finding the style that suits you. As designers, fashion is the time spent creating a garment and an entire collection which has been nurtured by its creator to deliver a unique item and even feeling to the user. We design for women with a hunger for life.”

Their pieces help women step out into the world elegantly, with an air of dignity and self-respect. They liberate the body from corsets yet hug the silhouette with a fluidity complementing its movements, in the conviction that dresses must take on the personality of the person wearing them.

The duo recently showed at Vancouver Fashion Week and had a great response — they’re looking to continue to establish their brand and the reputation of innovative British designers in the West Coast, Vancouver, LA and, of course, Hollywood!
