Having recently received a nomination for Young Designer of the Year at the Scottish Fashion Awards that will take place next month, Obscure Couture brings us their SS12 couture and ready-to-wear collections.

The Us Vs Them collection takes inspiration from the social groups surrounding the designing duo. From street gangs to the kaleidoscopic creative circles, the raw intensity of these groups and their styles has been harnessed. The experience translates to a collection that juxtaposes everyday street silhouettes and symbolism against luxurious fabrics.

Since the launch of the label in October 2010 the designing team has been a force to be reckoned with. After meeting in 2002 at Heriot Watt School of Textiles, Jenn and Lyndsay both worked on solo projects for the likes of Julian Macdonald and Fred Perry. After successfully raising funds for their own label the girls have now had two successful seasons at London Fashion Week and had their designs worn on hit TV show The X Factor.

Incorporating intricate techniques whilst still keeping a high-fashion edge, Obscure Couture’s Us Vs Them ready-to-wear collection features bold and clashing colours in vibrant and rich jewel tones.

Supported by a neutral base with a sports luxe undertone, fabrics feature hand painted silks, chiffons, metallic leathers, silk jersey, wool tartans and hand knits throughout.

Available from their own site here and ASOS here.
