Introducing Ciaté’s Velvet Manicure

Introducing Ciaté’s Velvet Manicure

You wouldn’t think it, but manicures have been a big part of the booming Olympics as athletes across London have been sporting patriotic nail art.

Nail trends are like Marmite at the best of times, and has ever a manicure been as controversial as Ciaté’s Caviar offering last season? Gluing dozens of teeny tiny little beads to my nails was definitely not my cup of tea, but even so the trend made huge waves, even sparking a nail art intellectual property war between Ciaté and nail polish bloggers.

The newest trend from the British nail brand is just as love/hate – this autumn, it’s all about the Velvet Manicure.

Inspired by the crushed velvet garments in abundance at the AW12 catwalks of Alexander McQueen, Balmain and Gucci, this manicure kit adds the soft, matt texture of velvet to your nails.

The Velvet Manicure was created by Ciaté’s Creative Director Charlotte Knight, who was aiming for style and sophistication and came up with the idea while experimenting with luxurious textures and finishes.

The Velvet Manicure Set consists of a miniature paint pot, tube of crushed velvet powder and a small black dusting brush, and will be priced at £14, exclusive to Selfridges and online from August.

They’ll be available in three gorgeous shades: Mink Cashmere (light grey), Berry Poncho (deep plum) and Blue Suede (dark navy blue). Which shade will you be rocking this autumn?

Love them or hate them, Ciaté’s Manicure kits are instant hits in the beauty world, and have already sold out online.
