Candy Kittens pop-up store launch

Yesterday we were invited to the launch of Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing’s confectionary brand Candy Kittens on Chelsea’s Kings Road. Viewers of the reality show may already be aware that 22-year-old Jamie is heir to the McVitie’s fortune and his ancestors are credited with creating the Jaffa cake, digestive and rich tea biscuit. Carrying on the tradition, Jamie’s biggest plan in life is to open a “sexy sweet shop” where customers will be served by “Candy Kittens”.
It seems there are plenty of sweet tooths in London, as guests arriving were made to queue outside in the rain for quite a while in order to squeeze in for their sugar fix. But Jamie was quite a sweetheart, coming out and sincerely apologising to all in waiting, charming the crowds with his cheeky contagious grin.
Members of the Made in Chelsea cast Cheska and Francis were there when we arrived. Cheska looked much happier than she has done in recent times, which could be due to the beau she’s managed to bag, as of late. She chose a fur gilet and black mini dress for the occasion. Francis looked far more casual than usual, accessorising his blue shirt and jeans combo with a back to front purple baseball cap.
Jamie’s best pal Spencer made an appearance, as did Millie Mackintosh who wore a simple yet elegant lemon lace dress. Guests were treated to lychee cocktails and milkshakes, and cupcakes were on offer.
There were a number of other Candy Kitten products on display including pendants, bracelets, pencil cases, t-shirts and diaries which some people weren’t aware they weren’t up for grabs and got in trouble with security on the way out.
The after-party took place at Raffles where the cast and guests partied until the early hours.
The Candy Kitten’s pop-up shop is now open at 287 Kings Road, Chelsea for the next six weeks. The first permanent store location will shortly be announced.
