Tuesday night in Covent Garden became a sexy display of lingerie hosted by Lingerie Française. The exhibition, that has travelled from Paris to London and will be making appearances in Dubai and Shanghai, is a showcase of 100 years of lingerie design and innovation. This rare and interesting opportunity has allowed some of the most famous French brands, such as Chantelle and Passionata, to come together to show exactly why lingerie is so special to women.

Opening with a talk about the history of lingerie, the venue for the event was secretive and somewhat seductive, contributing to the atmosphere of the exhibition. Canapés and champagne were an added luxury to the evening, and an adorable stand for cupcakes by the BB Bakery from Covent Garden gave a truly feminine touch.

In a celebration to lingerie history, a guided tour allowed guests to learn about key inventions in the underwear world. From the first bras ever made to girdles and corsets, were displayed in the show space along with huge projected video screens illustrating advertisements from lingerie brands throughout the ages. Educated in lingerie from the late 19th century through to the current date, you were invited to discover about shape, colour and meaning throughout the key dates in history.

In a special, intriguing highlight to the night, a dark coved wall became exposed to a life-like trans-historic striptease. Dominating and powerful, the screen display aimed to display the evolution of the female silhouette and the remarkable part that the French lingerie industry has played towards its enhancement throughout history.

The female form is something that has been shaped by the underwear world and being able to learn about it in such depth is a unique and eye-opening experience. You can visit the Lingerie Française exhibition for free until 7th October. To find more information on the event, click here.
