MyFaceMyBody holds spectacular aesthetic and dental consumer awards

The prestigious MyFaceMyBody Awards are the first consumer awards within the aesthetic, beauty and dental industry. The night was to recognise and reward brands for their product innovation and popularity.

The theme was masquerade, and within the beautiful walls of The Landmark Hotel, Marylebone, every person looked dazzling with their feathers, sequins, masks and dresses. We were welcomed with a glass of bubbly, and then called to the dining room which was breathtakingly stunning! MyFaceMyBody had really put out all the stops.

Stephen Handisides, owner of the consumer networking website MyFaceMyBody, said: “The response to our awards has been overwhelming. We have had over 12,500 consumers voting for their favourite brands and over 2,500 industry professionals involved in the awards. Our intention was to create a glamorous and influential evening which also had credibility because it is voted on by consumers rather than industry insiders. The awards will demonstrate which brands, products and services are popular and what the likely trends for 2013 are.”

The Upcoming was privileged to be a part of Handisides’ evening. Guests included staff from clinics around the UK, representatives of the major international dental and aesthetic brands, celebrities and VIP sponsors Glo Minerals, DenPlan, Oral B, Hamilton Fraser Cosmetic Insurance, Cynosure and Artiste.

As the chatter filled the glorious room, the atmosphere was electric but relaxing. Once everyone was seated, the first course of butternut squash and shitake mushroom risotto was expertly placed in front of every guest, and from the room quieting, you could tell everyone was enjoying the delicious taste. As everyone tucked away, the entertainment began: hand-picked dancers from The Urdang Academy in London strutted their stuff to songs from the West End musical Chicago, while the highly accredited West End star Stevie Tate-Bauer sang the hits from the show.

Applause roared when it came to an end, and in no time the main course was placed before us. A work of art of maize chicken breast, tender stem broccoli, sweet potato mousseline and creamed kale immersed in sage jus really hit the spot while fitting in with the sophistication of the evening. The second of three mini shows started, with Olivier Award nominated singer Alex Gaumond who sang songs from Phantom of the Opera, and also performed a duet with the wonderful Tate-Bauer. Then came a dessert from heaven for all chocolate lovers: dark chocolate and mint mousse, and brownies partnered with mint chocolate chip ice cream. Divinely delicious.

While coffees and petits fours were served, all the performers came out and performed a fabulous show of Footloose, which got everyone in the party mood.

After all the awards were given out, the party really started with dancing until 1am. After talking to some guests, all we heard were compliments for such a great evening. One guest, Lucy from Brentwood said: “It has been an amazing night; I’ve had the best time!” We couldn’t agree more!

MyFaceMyBody also raised money in a silent auction for Bridge2aid, who work in tirelessly in Tanzania to increase access to pain relief. Focusing on sustainability and empowering local people to improve their own lives over the long term, they have trained over 160 local health workers in emergency dentistry, and now train more than 50 health workers each year. It is an amazing cause to donate to and work with.

These awards have truly highlighted people in the aesthetics and dental industry who are striving and pushing forward for better treatments. People like this improve thousands of people’s lives for the better and it is about time they were appreciated. The whole evening was a complete success, from the atmosphere, service, people and presentation. A truly magical evening.
