Dreaming of a magical land: Ruby & Ed SS13 Press Day
High up on the eighth floor of the Sanderson Hotel, The Upcoming was invited to the Ruby & Ed SS13 Press Day. Situated in the luxurious penthouse bedroom, which had been transformed into a relaxed, beach-house setting, was the delightful team of Ruby & Ed, eager to help and show off their wonderful new collection.
At the centre of the room a king size bed was awash with an array of delicate linen and cotton pieces from vibrantly coloured kaftans and scarves to floaty, free and easy skirts – all crying out to be worn on warm summer days and sun-drenched beaches. The soft, pastel colours accentuated just how delicate these pieces are – the light cotton fabrics ready for lazing on the beach, allowing you to still look beautiful.
A piece that caught our eye was the classic parka jacket which had been reworked to fit in with the British summers. If you’re a lover of the outdoors or a festival obsessor, then this is perfect for you. The waterproof jacket comes in navy and olive colours with pink lining. It has stitch detailing to add to its craftsmanship and comes with a small bag which is also waterproof: great for the unpredictable British weather.
Ruby & Ed’s night wear collection is so eye-catching and memorable. Especially as one of the pyjama sets had been inspired by van Gogh’s Almond Blossom painting. This is made from the finest silk, the attention to detail being immaculate and the cut of the pyjamas accentuate the beautiful print described by van Gogh as the “Japan of the South of France”. A combination of oriental elegance and serenity, this beautifully designed PJ set conjures up images of lazy days spent lounging around whilst not compromising style.
Ruby & Ed commented on the fact their ideal customer is “someone searching for unique products with an easy-to-wear style and who values comfort”. Listening to their customers and adhering to their every need, they have launched their biggest ever collection infused with prints, detailing and comfort.
Expanding their well-known footwear collection this season with the addition of reptile embossed suede and ribbon-laced pumps are as always, beautiful, comfortable and more importantly, reliable! This is, of course, what we all wish for, isn’t it? We know our suitcases will be packed with Ruby & Ed’s collection this summer.
