Very.co.uk hosts first ever catwalk on ice

Last night The Upcoming was invited to witness a spectacular fashion first as Very.co.uk hosted their annual Christmas fashion show on ice! Held at The Tower of London ice rink, the runway was set in the middle of the glistening white ice, and all who were invited felt the exciting buzz of seeing how this was going to pan out.

The cameras were flashing as celebrities stylishly strolled to the tent where they were warmly welcomed with pink lights and pink fizz, music lulling around the room and a festive atmosphere filled every corner.

We were then guided to the ice rink outside, and cautiously took our seats trying not to step away from the carpet that was laid for our safety. Wherever we looked, there was wrapped up celebrities including Lauren Pope, Joey Essex, Ella Henderson from the X Factor and Ollie Locke, Spencer Matthews, Jamie Laing and Francesca Hull from Made in Chelsea.

The models took to the ice fantastically, with stunning clothes that flowed gorgeously in the wind as a flutter of snow magically waved through the air. The models looked like they belonged on Dancing on Ice, with Very.co.uk’s incredible collection and the magnificent ice skating skills, it was a spectacular show. From glitter frocks to black elegant evening gowns, they all took the ice. One of our favourites was a multi-coloured metallic body con and a gorgeous velvet men’s dinner jacket.

One model did an impressive jive on her blades, matching brilliantly with her 50s-inspired dress while another skater did the perfect back flip but still managed to keep his dignity while looking dapper in a gorgeous suit.

The show finished with Ella Henderson being glided across the ice with the rest of the models following behind her and applause echoed around the tower.

Everyone knew this would be the first of many shows that will take to the ice, though next time we may wrap up a bit more as bracing the cold was challenging!

The after party was filled with warm, hearty canapés, the wine flowed and Lauren Pope took the decks. The event was a complete success and for us, it was the clothes that shined just as much as the ice.
