Handbags at dawn: Jill Milan

Handbags at dawn: Jill Milan

Since the launch of Jill Milan’s bags in 2010, they have become a pinnacle within the world of fashion accessories. Everyone from Anne Hathaway to Eva Longoria and Carrie Underwood has been seen at Red Carpet events with their chic Milan clutches.

Manufactured in Italy, each bag is created by experts in the area and all metalwork is done by hand. Free from unnatural nasties, these bags boast both beauty and ethics making them vegan-friendly, as they use fabrics such as “velvets, ultrasuedes and buttery-soft faux leathers” instead of leather and fur. Milan also donates to animal welfare organisations as part of her commitment to protect animal rights. Her charities of choice are those that “rescue and retrain” former racehorses, giving them a second chance in life.

She caters for day, evening and business occasions; a stylish way to incorporate Milan style into every aspect of day-to-day life. The price ranges from $450 to $2500 for these bags. One of our favourites includes the Holland Park Clutch retailing at $1700, “entirely handmade by a Florentine jewellery artisan of metal and Italian faux leather.” The chic bag has a black-textured, patent hard case clutch, with a subtle silver triangle and fully lined interior – every bag has the same meticulous attention to detail, its own unique personality and beautiful craftsmanship.
