Sale e Pepe Mare to bring Italian tradition and Riviera flair to The Langham with March opening

Sale e Pepe Mare, a new Italian restaurant, will open its doors at The Langham in the West End this March, marking an expansion of the Sale e Pepe brand. The opening, scheduled for the week of 16th March, builds on over 50 years of culinary tradition established by the original Knightsbridge location. The new venue will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a focus on classic Italian dishes and Mediterranean seafood.

The original Sale e Pepe has been a fixture in Knightsbridge since its founding, known for its Italian cuisine and longstanding reputation. Markus Thesleff, CEO and founder, is leading the new venture. Thesleff, who has personal ties to the original restaurant, stated that the new outpost represents both a tribute to the institution and a reimagining for contemporary diners.

Mare will occupy a 5,000-square-foot space within the historic hotel. The menu will feature traditional offerings such as Linguine All’Aragosta, alongside new dishes like Otoro (bluefin tuna on baked brioche with confit tomato and garlic). A central seafood display will present a daily selection of fresh catches, including oysters, langoustines and raw Mediterranean preparations. The kitchen will also be equipped with a Josper grill, allowing for a range of grilled seafood and meats.

To complement the food, diners will be able to enjoy interactive elements, such as tableside preparation of the Caesar Salad, Bucatini Cacio e Pepe and Risotto ai Funghi Porcini, as well as the return of a dessert trolley featuring the restaurant’s signature tiramisu. According to the team, the idea is to “bring a touch of Riviera elegance to every service”.

Reservations for lunch and dinner will be available from mid-March, with further details expected to be released closer to the opening date.
