HemingwayDesign for Hush Puppies – S/S 13 launch

Within the stylish surrounds of the Auburn + Wills Cinema basement in Shoreditch, a small gathering were invited to preview the next season of the Hush Puppies and HemingwayDesign collaboration.

The shoes were displayed around the space in small, styled tableaux, all alongside a vintage pinball machine, pix’n’mix stand and a hotdog kiosk, as well as the brand’s promotional postcards displaying their nostalgic aesthetic and retro design details.

The celebrated team behind HemingwayDesign, founded in the 1980s, showed two short films that had been recorded on Margate Beach, presenting the new collection for Spring/Summer 2013. The films embodied a by-gone era of fashion and youth culture that then provided a great atmosphere for the rest of the event. Giving a nod back to the tailored, preppy style of the mods in the 1960s, the shoes evoke a feeling of teenage rebellion, trips to the seaside and music that your parents don’t approve of.

Mixing a classic brogue or loafer style with soft pastels and suede fabric gives these pieces an up to date edge that certainly relates to the style of today, making them a fantastic fusion of the very best of old and new, to create a unique and fashionable shoe that speaks to risk takers and trend setters of all ages.
