Will Mario Balotelli be missed?

AC Milan’s director Umberto Gandini has confirmed Manchester City have agreed a four-and-a-half-year contract to sign striker Mario Balotelli.

Milan’s owner Silvio Berlusconi has yet to release a statement as the general elections in Italy take place but he and the fans will be delighted to see the arrival of the controversial Italian.

City have also chosen not to release any statements on the transfer but will Mario be missed?

Being in the news for the wrong reasons was what Balotelli specialised in, creating a stir wherever he went. His contribution on the pitch left a lot to be desired, however, manager and fellow countryman Roberto Mancini often supported and backed his former front man.

The English fans were split in opinion on the news but Mario’s comedy value is second to none. His goals were not scored or celebrated in a normal fashion; with slogan’s such as “why always me” on his lycra T-shirt and choosing to finish with his chest in an unnecessary manner. His attitude rarely impressed those closely associated with football such as news reporters and pundits. It would be very interesting to conduct a survey among all football fans now as his likeability has risen.

City fans must be hoping a late deal is secured to replace Balotelli as they are now left with just three strikers as we enter the second half of the season.

It’s confirmed that a medical will take place tomorrow and the price tag is reportedly around £17m, which is £8m less than what City bought him for back in 2010.
