Oscars 2013: Red carpet’s best-dressed

On Monday night the world tuned in for the 85th  Academy Awards, the most eagerly anticipated date on the film industry calendar. Now officially recognised as The Oscars, that habitual wave of excitement and debate reached its climax on Sunday evening.

The Upcoming kept their eyes peeled on the red carpet for the fashionable gowns of the Hollywood elite. Apart from the coveted golden statuettes, the main buzz surrounding the Oscars focuses on “What and Who are you wearing?”.

The stars battle for the number one best-dressed whilst fearing their outfit be scorned by fans world-wide.

The Oscars 2013 saw a number of nudes and pale hues in the couture attire. Jessica Chastain wore a stunning Armani Privé nude/pink, embellished dress completed with a Harry Winston bracelet circa 1960.

Amy Adams wore a pale blue princess Oscar de la Renta dress topped with frills and ruffles.

Best actress winner Jennifer Lawrence awed everyone with a classic Dior haute couture in ivory, finished off with a long diamond necklace dripping from the back. Definitely a fashion forward style predicted to make a come-back thanks to Lawrence.

If it wasn’t pale hues many stars opted for striking blues, the current colour of the season. Reese Witherspoon wore cobalt blue courtesy of Louis Vuitton with an old movie star side-swept hairstyle completed with Louis Vuitton jewels.

Jennifer Hudson, who performed on the night, wore Roberto Cavalli in a deep blue with beading.

Catherine Zeta-Jones was one of those who stood out from the blue and pale hues in a spectacular gold dress, the work of Zuhair Murad.

Jane Fonda wore bright yellow Versace seen as the new colour at LFW.

Charlize Theron blew everyone away with her white Dior couture dress topped off with Harry Winston jewels.

Anne Hathaway, winner of best-supporting actress for Les Mis, wore a Prada slim-fitted, high-neck, pale pink number successfullyachieving the new “side boob” look.

Nine year-old Quvenzhané Wallis who made history by being nominated for a leading actress role, wore a blue Giorgio Armani dress with a puppy bag.

Naomi Watts also wore Armani Privé, dressed in a silver figure-hugging dress with a modern, risky cut out at the neckline which was pulled off beautifully. Amanda Seyfried went for lilac and silver with a halter-neck Alexander McQueen dress.

The Oscars 2013 saw the creations of the fashion world’s most illustrious designers adorned by Hollywood’s finest once again fail to disappoint in another dazzling night on the red carpet.
