Want to get paid to try beauty products? Lolastarhearts.com does!

It’s no secret that students are always struggling for cash. But a savvy student from Westminster University has come up with an ingenious way of making money while she studies. Combining her passion for beauty and blogging, PR student Lola Omokorede makes money from reviewing beauty products on her blog.

Lolastarhearts.com was launched just over a year ago and has since built up a loyal following of readers receiving over 10,000 visitors each month.

“I started blogging because I’m a bit of a beauty junkie and wanted somewhere to share my thoughts. It started as a hobby and it’s great that I’m earning money from doing something that I love,” Lola says, adding that she finds time to write posts during her 90-minute commute to university from South-East London. “It’s fantastic to be able to discover new products and share them with my readers”.

Lola has always loved beauty and used to steal her mother’s make-up when she was younger. “It would always look awful,” Lola told us, “but I loved it!”

Now, big cosmetic brands send Lola products to try and pay her to write features and reviews. “I receive lots of products from The Body Shop and get access to their new launches. I work with lots of different brands and PRs though, so I get sent lots of different products for features,” Lola explains.

The Upcoming asked Lola to give us some top beauty tips so she let us in on her best and worst beauty products. “Body oils are my favourite beauty item right now, but generally speaking anything from The Body Shop gets a big thumbs up from me. I hate hot cloth cleansers. They’re really raved about in the beauty ‘blogosphere’ but they always bring me out in a rash, no matter what brand I use!”
