Young designer duo Agi & Sam have gained a name for themselves relatively quickly. Now six collections in, we see the pair launch their first collection with Topman.DSCF3079

Agape Mdumulla and Sam Cotton first met while doing an internship at Alexander McQueen. Fast forward to 2011 when the pair decide to launch their own label Agi & Sam. With each new collection they gain a loyal fan-base that is as varied as each collection they produce, and yet their one guiding proposition is that they simply want to make clothes people want to wear. As their success continues to gain steam and their fan-base booms, it is no wonder then that they have been approached to produce a collection for high-street brand Topman.DSCF3102

The new line called The Owls, is both a nod to the owl prints, which the design duo are known for and a fictional football team, which serves as the inspiration for most of the t-shirts. DSCF3099

To celebrate the launch of the 20-piece collection, which is due in stores on 4th June 2013, we were invited to a launch party that spanned several decades. Held at new members club, Apartment 58 in Oxford street, we got a glimpse of the new campaign. 70s-inspired themed artwork graced the walls at the venue. We were also treated to retro games of table football and a seriously danceable mash-up of music that skipped merrily from the 70s to the 90s, and crisscrossed everything in between. As the crowd danced, the excitement about the new collection hitting stores was the one topic of conversation everyone touched on.
