Talon talent takes centre stage at 2013 Scratch Stars Awards
We think it’s safe to say nail art has definitely had a strong few years. Breakout stars of the industry like Sharmadean Reid are as much in demand now – by name – as any hairdresser is. In the last year alone, we have watched as celebs and fashionistas vied for column inches, as much for their outfit of choice as they do for their latest nail colour, artwork or the “in” shape to have. It seems fitting then that those in the nail industry are recognised for their handy work, so to speak. We were at the second annual Scratch Star Awards to see who the winners were that walked away with these coveted awards.
The event took place last night in the opulent surroundings of Notting Hill hotspot, The Supper Club. This year’s awards were hosted by ex-Eastenders star and presenter, Joe Swash. Made up of 15 categories, the awards recognise winning salons, technicians and companies within the nail industry.
Once the important business of the awards was allocated, the crowd of winners, nominees, and celebs like Tana Ramsey were all entertained by acrobats and fire breathers, courtesy of The Supper Club’s sometimes unusual delights. DJ T-money delivered a stonking set to make sure no-one had any ideas of leaving regardless of the following day being Monday.
