Designer Juan Avecedo, celebrated the launch of his new East Club pop up store in Covent Garden yesterday evening. The Upcoming got the opportunity to peruse Juan’s dapper collection and to speak to the designer himself.

The Mexican born designer gave us an impressive list of countries and European cities he has lived in, explaining previous to London he lived in Hong Kong but that he has now settled in London.  When asked if any aspects of London have influenced his designs, Acevedo quickly responded that his collection is very much colonial inspired. His pieces represent a classic English design and have certainly been enriched by stimulating concepts from the new worlds. The Far East is a sure influence to his designs, and this is clear when you look to the label, which features an elephant.

Cocktail in hand it was delightful to inspect some of East Club’s fantastic pieces. Shelves were brightened with colourful bowties, pocket squares, ties, scarves and a shimmer of cufflinks. There was a mix of dress shirts with contrasting colour detailing and striking tartan casual shirts adorned with elbow patches; some fine knitwear was also on display. The opposite side of the room presented a versatile collection of suit jackets, some again representing the plaid and elbow patched style. Downstairs featured a collection of vibrant shorts and provided a fitting room for those eager to try on some of the classic yet quirky designs. The East Club store provides the modern man with a variety of style, to wear to a selection of ventures.

Models were on hand, head to toe in Juan’s new collection demonstrating the full East Club look. Also a mass of well-dressed guests congregated with drinks outside, some sporting Juan’s signature bowtie. Everyone seemed to be in high spirits as they supported the new launch in 53 Monmouth Street, Covent Garden.

East Club is also available to visit and shop online, but they are offering a special sale in store until the 31st August. So gentlemen do get down there fast!
