If you haven’t heard of The Ragged Priest yet, frankly, where have you been? The fashion-forward independent label has been taking street style and working it with grunge influences to release an A/W ‘13 collection that’s darkly wicked. Known for taking current trends and reworking them with innovative ideas, the new A/W collection sees The Ragged Priest take inspiration from 90s teen culture with an American sportswear twist.

In women’s wear, bomber jackets in mixed tartan prints are teamed with slashed denim jeans and sheer varsity style blouses. An androgynous look is created with oversized knitwear and collarless jackets, whilst feminine pinafore dresses are given a tough look with leather. Interest is added to the pieces with details including silver eyelets and leather lacing on the arms of jumpers and across the knees of jeans. The palette of black is punctuated with splashes of tie-dyed pink and yellow, or with tassels in dip-dyed brights.

The Ragged Priest’s men’s wear collection for A/W follows the American sportswear style with varsity and bomber jackets. A palette of grey, black and reds in tartan patterns make up collage contrast tees and sweaters. A black leather biker jacket, with plaid tartan sleeves and contrast elbow patches, gives the collection a little of the grungy Ragged Priest style that we know and love.

Since its launch five years ago, The Ragged Priest has gained a loyal following of fashion lovers who like their trends to have a bit of an edge, giving the brand a reputation as being one of the most fashion-forward independent brands around.
