This song from Coldplay is yet another of their melancholy masterpieces; it’s a folksy ballad evocative of their familiar sound, with well-written lyrics and an anthemic chorus. The song’s simplicity and the lyrical realism is a winning formula for any Christmas track, but the emotional delivery from Chris Martin makes Christmas Lights an exceptional festive treat.
