Press day: Marwood launch extraordinary A/W 2014 accessory line
Accessory mavericks Marwood have launched their new A/W 2014 collection of woven ties, silk jacquard pocket squares, scarves and bow ties that can sophisticate and stylize any outfit or look. 
Since 2011, Marwood have been showcasing a range of handcrafted ties and bows, priding themselves in using only the finest wools, woven silks and traditional English leavers lace. All of their products are made by the highest skilled fabric mills and factories across the UK, which designer Becky French works extremely close to, ensuring everything is perfect.
They have since ventured out this season, designing luscious scarves, luxury cashmere-lined eye masks, and wonderful lace-faced gloves, as well as their favourites of bows and ties redesigned to go with the early 20th century look.
This season has experimented with “split designs” again, as they previously did in their neckwear. This time the “split designs” are in their decadent socks which are available not only on their online store, but in Mr Porter, Fenwick and Isetan.
This season was influenced by the Viennese creator Koloman Moser, who earned the nickname “Jack of all trades” from his multiple skills, which included illustrator, craftsman, interior designer and painter. But it was Moser’s graphic illustrations on decorative furniture and colour palette that has been used for inspiration for the beautiful designs. Becky’s desire to challenge the traditional manufacturing technique and experimenting with different fabrics have created a masculine, dark colour palette. The use of incredible brasses and coppers and pairing them with soft rust, ruby satin and lilac greys creates a stunning pop in the gorgeous creations. 
Marwood have also collaborated with two creative geniuses, the first, with Alice Made This, as both share the same passion and philosophy of quality English manufacturing. Alice Made This’ staple is metal turned cufflinks, and has put those skills to creating four tie pins, made from 24ct gold, silver, copper and pure rhodium-plated to match perfectly with four beautifully designed ties. 
The second collaboration is with All in Fall, tessellation creators, by illustrator Sam Kerr. Marwood’s main inspiration this season, Koloman Moser, predominantly used hand-drawn tessellations in his work, so this was truly a match made in heaven.
Kerr’s obsessive persistence and his painstakingly mathematical genius is what makes his work perfection, pairing this with Becky’s incredible experimentation and design skills, both collided and created a beautiful lace pattern, adding texture and pure opulence and giving birth to “Viennese Leaf”. 
Marwood’s exceptional A/W 2014 line is a celebration in English manufacturing, brilliant collaborations and stunning staple in the accessory world. In our opinion a unisex collection and a must-have for comfort, luxury and fashion-forward trend. Perfection.
