Example – Live Life Living

Example – Live Life Living | Album review

Example is back with a new album this summer, sure to impress listeners with its insightful lyrics and electronic beats; a wonderful addition for these summer months.

Track Next Year is a delightful way to open as the intensity is softened through the electronic beats, enticing anyone into continuing with the rest. Lead single Kids Again is a fun, radio-friendly song – a true representation of Elliot Gleave’s artistic direction. The electronic, almost club-like tune is a sure win that is certain to satisfy anyone. This is followed by One More Day (Stay with Me), which continues the club tone; rich, funky vibes creating an enjoyable and addictive piece.

Perhaps his stand-out song is Only Human, with an intense sense of electronic dub-step that adds an overall sense of depth. The song is typically safe for a conventional night out in town. Nonetheless, this does not take away from the sheer enjoyment of the song, or the album, with strong production and lyrics.

Title track, Live Life Living, is a wonderful addition, which despite its energy still adds a sense of depth and vulnerability that is sometimes lost among the production. The song seems fun, a good indication for Example’s album of the same name, yet the lyrics are sure to strike a resemblance to listener’s lives.

Moments of reflection and serenity are shown towards the end of the album, as At Night is a lot more stripped back than Example’s other offerings. Yet he still maintains the electronic, summer vibes that beautifully complement the intensity in his lyrics: truly a successful combination.
