The winter cape

The winter cape

We’ve seen them everywhere, worn by celebrities, models, bloggers and even little red riding hood! The cape is making a beeline for your wardrobe this season and there’s so much to love about it.

A favourite among fashion folk, the cape is the ultimate chic piece that can work wonders on the most simplest of outfits, transforming casual top and jeans into and all-round more on-trend look in a matter of seconds.

The cape has been spotted on many catwalks for A/W 2014 and who are we to argue with what the designers say?! From long, flowing and mystical at Valentino to cropped, tweed and classic at Saint Laurent, each designer styled the capes in their collection in a totally unique way but each one rocked on the runway and showed their own individual flair.

As the cape is a pretty timeless piece, we’d say it’s definitely worth the investment. So, where to start when picking out and styling your new winter essential? You could opt for a cropped cape, sitting just above the waistline and reminiscent of a vintage nursing cape or maybe a swooping longer length for the perfect glamorous entrance to an evening winter party.

If you’re wearing a shorted cape, then shorter length skirts go great when paired with cute winter boots. However, when wearing a longer cape consider balancing out the volume of fabric with a much more simple and fitted pencil skirt. No matter which cape you decide is right for you, it will always look great with a pair of cosy winter tights or super skinny jeans along with knee-high or ankle boots.

Just remember, make a cape your wardrobe staple this season. No matter whichever way you decided to wear yours, believe us when we say, it will be your new winter closet favourite!
