Batch pop-up at Old Street Station
Batch is the latest au naturale brand selected by pop-up aficionados Appear Here to feature in one of east London’s most convenient pop-up spots, Old Street Station, until March 2015.
The pop-up offers 100% organic food and juices, as they set about their aim to teach Londoners about the medicinal properties of food; their raw, dehydrated and blended juices are served in quirky glass bottles and pack a punch for when you’re feeling a bit under the weather, which, at this time of the year, is inevitable. Labelling itself as providing “amazing, nutritious and delicious food,” Batch believes in “transparent living,” and endeavours to provide “healthy options at accessible price points”.
Arriving into London from the countryside at 5am each morning (presumably, in batches) the food and drink is prepared at under 120 degrees Fahrenheit to preserve the ingredients’ natural enzymes, which the company says brings the customer “nutrition in its optimum and most beneficial state”. Sophie Miranda, the 23-year-old partner in the business, believes in natural healing qualities within fresh and raw food, having been enlightened after starting a fresh, raw, vegan diet herself.
The team at Batch joined forces with Juiceman for liquid refreshments at the pop-up, and located next to the delicious juices are all day lunches, breakfasts and snack options that are compiled in the early hours of each morning, ready for the onslaught of health conscious commuters craving a boost on their way to work or on lunchtime jaunts from the office.
Batch is just the latest pop-up to appear at Old Street station, with Appear Here effectively curating the pop-up spaces. Recent additions have included Moleskin, French Connection and Jamie Oliver.
With winter becoming very much more prominent in the recent turn in the weather, it remains imperative that Londoners restore their body’s goodness and Batch seems to be the perfect solution.
