Since kicking off her red carpet career at the tender age of 16, Keira Knightley’s style on the carpet has evolved over the years, from her early days of midriff-baring sheer tops to couture ladylike dresses. Knightley has become renowned for having a long-time love affair with Chanel, but is also a fan of big name designers such as Erdem, Burberry and Valentino. We take a look back through some of her best red carpet looks.

Back in 2011, Knightley lit up the Venice Film Festival in a beautiful long sleeved gold embroidered tulle creation from Valentino’s autumn 2011 couture collection. A sophisticated updo and soft pink lips completed her heavenly look.

At the Toronto International Film Festival the same year, Knightley wowed at the premiere of A Dangerous Method. Walking the red carpet in a beige lace Elie Saab dress cinched in at the waist with matching nude court shoes, she looked every inch the Hollywood starlet.

Opting for one of her favourite designers, the English actress stunned in a mint green Erdem gown for the 2012 premiere of Anna Karenina. The demure gown featured blue embroidery along the bust and hem, making it a perfect choice for the period drama premiere. Her vintage hairstyle, feline flicked eyes and bright pink lip were an ideal choice to compliment this gown.

Continuing her love affair with Chanel at The Imitation Game premiere at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, Knightley wowed in Chanel. The star selected the short sleeved off-white neoprene embroidered dress with a silk tulle skirt from the autumn/winter 2014 haute couture collection that debuted during Paris Fashion Week earlier that year. Long loose curls, a deep mauve pout and blush ankle strap peep toe heels, completed her feminine look.

Finally, at this year’s Vanity Fair Oscar Party, Keira Knightley remained true to her personal style, continuing to opt for elegant shapes during her pregnancy. She sizzled in a black plunging velvet Valentino gown which hugged her pregnancy curves beautifully.
