With thunderstorms across the country washing out the August bank holiday weekend and the evenings drawing in fast, autumn has truly made its presence known in 2015.

With the bank holiday comes the knowledge that the next one on the calendar is Christmas Day – now less than 16 weeks away. Although most people are mourning the loss of summer sunshine, now is the perfect time to prepare to get cosy before the colder weather truly sets in.

One of this year’s interior key autumn/winter trends is a focus on tactile furnishings and textiles. Chunky knits and luxurious fabrics pair beautifully with polished surfaces and Scandinavian-style wood effects for truly stylish, and importantly, comfortable survival into the winter months.

Simplicity in design and composition accentuates the trend, with natural fibres featuring strongly. Colourways identified for autumn/winter reflect the jewel-like tones of berries and fallen leaves: purples, reds and mustard yellows feature strongly, as well as shades of grey, metallics, and blue, continuing to prove a strong theme across 2015 collections.
