Graduate Showcase collection presentation for LFW S/S 2016
Talent was brewing today in Freemasons’ Hall, its doors having seen years of talent pass through them, and that wasn’t about to change. A selection of the UK’s best fashion colleges chose their most talented students to showcase a really spectacular and wonderfully unique collection.
As it was their final projects, each graduate spent around four months’ producing their collection – each was individual and completely different from the next. The journey started with loud shoulder pads and bright stripes, fantastic corset-like tailoring and “bag inspired” pieces that seemed as if they have been made out of wood. It then followed round to designs created from four-tiered fabric made into boxy shapes with sharp colour contrasts, and a row of satin-dressed models with dried flowers lining their tights and lingerie, encompassing delicacy.
The presentation included a taste of by-gone eras with almost medieval-inspired pieces, showing a slight witchcraft twist and crystal-embellished accessories. Futuristic puffa jackets with loud cartoon prints also made an appearance, alongside made-to-measure silicon molded dresses with matching accessories.
Every piece from every collection was a work of art in itself. It was a pleasure to be in a room with so much talent, and we’re more than sure that each student will go far in their career.
