The Space Between Us is the new sci-fi film from Peter Chelsom, following young Gardner Elliot, the first human born on Mars after his astronaut mother leads the start of an experimental colony on the planet. Craving a normal teenage life on earth, and a chance to meet the girl he has an online romance with, the boy’s story asks how far we will travel for a real human connection. We caught up Asa Butterfield who plays Gardner ahead of the release to discuss acting alongside Britt Robertson, feigning zero-gravity, and the chances of a human colony being created on Mars in our time.
