Jawbone premiere: A chat with Ray Winstone, Johnny Harris and Thomas Napper

We spoke to Johnny Harris, scribe and lead of new British boxing drama Jawbone, at the London premiere at BFI. The film follows Jimmy (Harris), a down-and-out alcoholic, as he returns to his childhood boxing club to battle his inner demons. Far from conventional, Harris seeks out poetry in working class struggle and vulnerability in closed masculine spaces. Also on the red carpet, we spoke to director Thomas Napper. This is Napper’s directorial debut, and it more than proves his tenacity behind a camera. While veteran actor Ray Winstone shows rare vulnerability as Jimmy’s friend and mentor.
