Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz reunite for Florian Zeller’s Bunker

Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz are heading back to the big screen together in Bunker, the new thriller from The Father director Florian Zeller.

The pair play a married couple whose relationship begins to fracture after Bardem’s character, an architect, agrees to design a survivalist bunker for a tech billionaire. As the project takes hold, his wife starts to question not only the ethics of the job but the state of their marriage after 17 years together.

They are joined by Stephen Graham, Paul Dano and Patrick Schwarzenegger, giving Zeller a notably strong ensemble for his latest film.

Written and directed by Zeller, Bunker places a very contemporary fear at the centre of its story: what happens when anxiety about the future becomes something people with enough money can quite literally build around themselves. The film then brings that unease into the couple’s home, where questions of privilege, responsibility and trust begin to collide.

UK audiences will get an early look at the film at the BFI London Film Festival, where it will screen as a gala presentation on 10^th October, before its wider cinema release next year.
